How does Vacuflex Concepts work?
Through the sophistication of modern technology, however without losing the human touch factor, Dougans International Vacuflex Concepts combines a vacuum boot therapy together with a vacuum cup treatment of the acupuncture meridians. The client feels a pleasurable firm pressure over the feet, ankles and calves as the vacuum pump removes the air from the plastic bags, creating a vacuum and causing the specially constructed felt boots to apply a gradual and carefully controlled pressure that can be monitored on the gauge. The next stage of the treatment involves stimulating acupuncture points along the using suction pads.
The Solar Plexus, known as the abdominal brain because it contains so many nerves and nerve networks, is also stimulated during the first phase of the treatment without any spasms or cramps occurring. It is for this reason that the system was found particularly beneficial during its original development in helping a spastic child who had suffered cramps and spasms during a conventional reflexology treatment.
It is often assumed that the pressure exerted by the Vacuflex Concepts boots is stronger than the thumb pressure techniques. A test conducted by an engineer proved that the pressure applied using the central portion of the tip of the thumb exerts 5.29 times more pressure than the lower scale of Vacuflex Concepts, ranging from -40 kilopascal. The important difference is that the Vacuflex Concepts boots apply uniform, constant and continuous pressure for a period of five minutes, (five minutes being the correct and sufficient time for completion of this phase of the treatment), while the thumb pressure is not uniform or constant.
For the first few treatments, the pressure is always set at the lowest end of the scale of pressure being between -20 and -30 kilopascal in order for the recipient to adjust to the sensation and allowing for client comfort. As the client progresses in their healing process, the pressure may be slowly increased with each successive treatment. It is not necessary to increase the level of pressure in order to facilitate faster results to engender a better treatment.
The Vacuflex Concepts method has proven far more comfortable for those people who have a low pain threshold or who have intensely sensitive reflexes due to severe congestion in the body. During the treatment with the Vacuflex boots the recipient may feel a “strong” pressure in some of the reflexes and a “prickly” sensation in others, as opposed to the sharp pain often experienced during a manual treatment.
What are the effects and benefits of a Vacuflex Concepts treatment?
The thoroughness of Vacuflex Concepts, with its combination of reflexology and acupuncture, ensures that the client always receives a complete and consistent treatment every time, irrespective of the practitioner’s strength or accuracy of interpretation.
Possibly the most remarkable feature of a Vacuflex Concepts treatment is the discoloration appearing on the plantar and dorsal regions of the feet when the boots are removed. This is caused by the pressure of the boots and highlights areas of reflex and meridian congestion. The colors remain for approximately 30 seconds during which time the reflexologist can “read” and “interpret” what is reflected. This visual impression is of the utmost importance in firstly tracing the disease pathways as it will reflect energy conditions as they are at that present moment in time. Secondly, it will monitor the changes in the color patterns as elimination takes place with each treatment. The colors that appear are blue, red, yellow and white.
Usually after the first treatment a deep elimination may take place and this can be in the form of strong urine/stool, headaches, extreme tiredness etc. Alternatively, the recipient may not experience any of the above, but may feel light and revitalised. This will depend entirely on the individual concerned and their particular genetic and symptomatic make-up. A recipient may however experience a painful elimination, but this is to be regarded in a positive light and seen as the body’s way of purging toxins and re-balancing.
It should be noted that because a Vacuflex Concepts treatment is holistic in principle, the energy states and dynamics in the body are being dealt with and disease is primarily viewed as blocked energy. It is therefore not a treatment that aims at suppressing symptoms like with orthodox medicine and consequently recipients may undergo brief periods of discomfort. After each treatment elimination will become less and less uncomfortable, and an awareness of an improving health is felt.
Over the years therapists have used this system for sports injuries such as a sprained ankle. Treatments can be administered as often as once or even twice a day, over a period of 3 – 7 days, and improvements are great, even reducing a severely swollen foot to the extent that a shoe can be worn again within a week. People who have suffered a stroke are treated with Vacuflex Concepts with very pleasing results. Back problems are also very effectively treated as are more usual congestions such as arthritis related diseases. It is a pleasant and gentle therapy that is suitable for the most sensitive patients.
